“Vibing coding” usually means leaning on an LLM to keep momentum: rapid iteration, low friction, and a focus on flow more than formal upfront design.
Common vibing styles (and how they differ)
1) Prompt-to-app (Chat-first)
How it works
- Describe the feature → LLM generates code → you paste/run → repeat.
Best for
- Prototypes, throwaway demos, quick UI scaffolds.
Strengths
- Fastest time-to-first-working-version
- Great for exploration and unfamiliar APIs
Risks
- Architecture drifts quickly
- Subtle bugs + inconsistent patterns
- Harder to test and refactor later
Good practice
- Keep prompts small and iterative
- Ask for tests before adding new features
- Force conventions: lint, format, folder structure
2) “Driver–Navigator” (You code, LLM reviews)
How it works
- You write the code; LLM acts like a reviewer: suggests improvements, edge cases, refactors.
Best for
- Production code where you still want speed but need control.
Strengths
- You keep architectural ownership
- Higher code quality than chat-first generation
Risks
